Disturbing Video of Oklahoma Woman Attacked With Baby in Her Arms Goes Viral

A teenager has been taken into custody after assaulting a mother holding her six-month-old baby.
The teen was arrested for the assault that took place on the afternoon of Oct. 18 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma according to KSLA 12.

Cellphone footage of the video has gone viral on Facebook, and has racked up 7.5 million views and has been shared over 150,000 times in less than 24 hours.

“Hate to post this of my daughter being assaulted by 2 girls, and nothing has been done yet 5 days later. So please share,” wrote Jeremy McCoy of Broken Bow on Tuesday Oct. 23 on Facebook.

Warning: The footage is graphic and contains offensive language.
The disturbing moments caught on camera show Janie McCoy with her baby son in her arms being assaulted by a group of teens, while they shout at her saying “get her baby.”

An online petition called “Justice to Janie McCoy” has already had over 9,000 signatures.

In the petition, Jeremy McCoy writes how the teen, “not only assaulted Janie, but put the life of that innocent child in danger. That went to far and anyone who assaults a mother with a child in their arms deserve punishment at the fullest extent of the law.”

A longer version of the viral video was posted on YouTube with the comment, “Broken Bow Oklahoma cops never arrested the other 2 for punching the girl holding the child.”

In an interview with KSLA 12 Janie McCoy describes how she was on a swing in the playground with her son when a group of teens came and confronted her.

“In that moment, I did not want to fight. I had my son with me; and if you know me, then you know that my kid comes first,” she said to KSLA 12. “They said that I said something about somebody wanting to fight somebody that I had no idea what they was talking about.”

She added, “I tried to get away from the situation and, as you can see, they struck me anyways.”

Janie McCoy told the news outlet that the incident left her with bruising on her cheek and a busted lip, but her son was unhurt.

“I took him to the doctor to make sure everything was OK. He wasn’t hurt or anything, thank God.”
